Mesoscopic Models

One major simplification of particle transport models is that the number of transported particles is sufficiently large so that we can ignore fluctuations due to finite-size effects, which can also introduce correlations between particles. To investigate finite-size effects, we are currently developing a mesoscopic model of partcle transport for a finite but large number of particles based on a system size expansion.
